A zip awning (toldo zip in Spanish) is a motorised external blind in which the fabric edges are guided by side rails using a zip-track mechanism. The zip locks the fabric into the side channels, preventing it from flapping or billowing in the wind — unlike traditional awnings, which must be retracted in winds above 40–50 km/h.
Because the fabric is held under tension on all four sides, zip awnings can remain deployed in winds up to 120 km/h when using the correct fabric specification and track system.
