Guillotine glass (ventanas de guillotina in Spanish) is a frameless system in which individual glass panels slide vertically — upward into a cassette above the opening, or downward into a pocket beneath the sill. Unlike traditional sash windows, the panels are entirely frameless, creating a clean, unobstructed view whether open or closed.
The system is particularly popular for glazing the sides of pergolas, closing the gap between a fixed beam and the ground, or as a secondary wind and rain barrier on already-enclosed terraces. When stacked, the panels disappear completely into the cassette, giving a totally open feel. Guillotine glass can be operated manually or — for larger panels — motorised.
Vertical Sliding
Panels travel upward into a slim top cassette or downward into a floor channel — fully invisible when open.
Frameless Glass
No lateral profiles between panels; sight lines are as clean as looking through an open window.
Manual or Motorised
Standard panels operate with a simple handle; panels over 1.5 m high are available with motorised drives.
Pergola Compatible
Guillotine glass integrates perfectly with our bioclimatic pergola system to fully enclose the sides.
Why Torremolinos Residents Choose Costa Glass
Torremolinos was Spain's first major beach resort and retains a large British community, particularly in El Bajondillo, La Carihuela, and Playamar. Many properties here are older-stock apartments with terraces in need of glazing to extend their usable season.
The local climate — characterised by a classic Costa del Sol climate close to Málaga airport — mild and sunny with westerly sea breezes — makes quality terrace products an investment rather than a luxury. A well-installed guillotine glass system extends your outdoor season from the traditional summer months to a full twelve months of usable, comfortable outdoor space.
As direct manufacturers based in Estepona — just a short drive from Torremolinos — Costa Glass eliminates the middleman and passes those cost savings directly to you. Every system is measured on-site, fabricated at our factory, and installed by our own technical team. There are no subcontractors and no split responsibilities.
